Calling Outstanding Young Researchers: Apply to attend the 6th Heidelberg Laureate Forum 2018 in Germany!

Deadline: February 9, 2018

Applications are now open for the 6th Heidelberg Laureate Forum, taking place from September 23 to 28, 2018 (with young researcher registration on September 22). Young researchers in computer science and mathematics from all over the world can apply for one of the 200 coveted spots to participate in the Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF), an annual networking event.
The Heidelberg Laureate Forum is a networking event for mathematicians and computer scientists from all over the world. Over the course of the week-long HLF, young researchers will be given the exclusive possibility to profoundly connect with their scientific role models and find out how the laureates made it to the top of their fields.
The HLF offers all accepted young researchers the great opportunity to personally interact with the laureates of the most prestigious prizes in the fields of mathematics and computer science. For one week, the recipients of the Abel Prize, the ACM A.M. Turing Award, the ACM Prize for Computing, the Fields Medal, and the Nevanlinna Prize engage in a cross-generational scientific dialogue with young researchers in Heidelberg, Germany.

  • The Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation (HLFF) will cover all costs for single hotel accommodations (including breakfast) for a maximum of seven nights (September 22 to September 29, 2018) only for the participants of the
  • HLF. Lunch and dinner will be provided free of charge to all participants Monday through Friday.
  • The Heidelberg Laureate Forum provides all participants with travel health insurance for the duration of the Forum
Travel Support
If your application is successful, you should request financial support for your participation in the HLF from your home institutions (university, research lab, company). If that fails, you should apply with a national funding agency in your respective countries.
If both applications are rejected, you can apply for financial support from the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation (HLFF). The travel grant application form is available for download on the online registration tool. The rejection letters have to be included in the travel grant application. Those of you who are not eligible for national funding are requested to specify the reason(s).

  • Open to Young researchers at all phases of their careers (undergraduate, graduate PhD or postdoc)
There are 100 spaces available for each discipline of mathematics and computer science. All applicants will be notified by the end of April 2018 whether or not they will be invited.
Submit the following:
  • Applications in all Categories: CV, educational certificates (degrees); awards, other scientific achievements (if any); names and addresses of people who can provide a letter of recommendation (1 to 3); indication of your field of research (Mathematics, Computer Science, or both); motivation letter (why you wish to attend).
