The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation’s mission is to catalyze Africa’s economic transformation by focusing on social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health, and the implementation of progressive policies that create economic opportunities for all.

The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation seeks to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to assist in the general bookkeeping and accounting operations. This full-time position will be based in Yaounde.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist management in the implementation of financial management reforms, particularly those relating to accrual accounting;
  • Process invoices and other payments, and authorize departmental requisitions, Local Purchase Orders and Payment Vouchers;
  • Compile periodic reports including quarterly accrual accounting reports, monthly revised estimates, cash flow projections and other financial reports as required;
  • Process Payment Vouchers and perform Journal entries according to the Foundations Operations Manual;
  • Monitor project budgets and ensure compliance;
  • File all documents sent out and received in the Finance department;
  • Facilitate all payments in the field during various activities (training, workshops, etc.).
  • Compile monthly, annual and yearly budgets and prepare budgetary executions;
  • Files all disbursement vouchers systematically no later than the following month and perform cash reconciliations;
  • Prepare and submit donor financial reports on time as per the agreement with donors/s, in collaboration with the Foundations Accountant;
  • Prepare a bank reconciliation at the end of each month;
  • Scan and submit vouchers alongside the financial report as per donors request;
  • Payroll management;
  • CNPS & Tax declaration and payment;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
Competencies/skills required
  • Must be able to communicate and write well in English and French languages;
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbally and orally;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Self-motivation and integrity;
  • An analytical and logical approach to problem-solving;
  • Ability to work alone as well within a team;
  • Motivated and ambitious;
  • Must be able to work according to set deadlines;
  • Knowledge of various accountancy software will be considered an asset.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bilingual candidates (English and French) preferred;
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting/finance. (Preferably in NGO);
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements;
  • Experience in working with multiple donors.
