Caritas Kumba currently is intervening in Health, Food Security, Protection, WASH, Survey and Monitoring in Meme, Ndian and Kupe Manenguba Sub Divisions. To his effect, Caritas Kumba is seeking to recruit an experience professional to fulfill the position of gender Officer based in kumba to work across projects in all project intervention areas.

Position: GBV Officer -1

Job location: Fiango, Kumba

Reporting to: Child Project Manager

Key relationships:

Health Department, Project Department, Communication Department, and MEAL Department

General objective of the position: The GBV Officer responsible for technical support for GBV activities by providing technical assistance to ensure the provision of high-quality GBV services and to ensure coordination and mainstream of GBV within other projects.

Main tasks and responsabilities:

  • S/he will provide technical support to mainstream gender across project activities, including development of gender mainstreaming strategies
  • S/he will ensure gender is integrated into the M&E processes as well as study periodic reports from the monitoring and evaluation teams regarding the GBV issues (from technical side) and give notes and suggestions to fill gaps
  • S/he will ensure all staff are aware of Caritas GBV policies, ensuring all teams are working according to laid down SOPs
  • In collaboration with Communication department, S/he will formulate key gender messages and targets from lessons leaned, assesments, research and evidence gained through implementation of project.
  •  Build the capacity of key project staffs, community volunteers including and community committees,  international days related to GBV, Women and Girls and Human Rights.
  • Provide inputs into assesment, analysis and documentation that underpin evidence for gender based activities and influencing in the project.
  • S/he will develop and maintain a network of external contacts with key individuals in the government, NGO sector, civil society and the media particularly working  on gender issues and participate in gender working group meetings. 
  • S/he will take part in community-based mobilzation and sensitization meetings.
  • Ensure the safety and approriateness of referrals to other institutions for futher assistance as necessary in order to suggest the best possible support and maintain confidentiality.
  • Providing technical inputs on monthly, quarterly and annual technical reports.
  • Develop a technical tool to evaluate the work of the GBV team, and concluding technical  evaluation for employees (Team leaders, case managers, case workers, outreach workers).
  • Produce reports on weekly, monthly and on demand basis
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by line Manager
Qualification, skills and Experience
  • Good communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong understanding of gender equality programing and meaningful child participation
  • Proficient computer skills and use of relevant software and other application (e.g word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet.
  • Experience in implementing Gender activities for IDPs, vulnerable adolescents and young people, Social Work or community development
  • Experience in conducing community meetings, interview, and group discussions
  • Experience in faciliting training with project beneficiaries
  • Professional working experience with local and/ or international non-government organization is preferable
  • Excellent personal organizational Skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Skills on proposal writing, monitoring and reporting
  • Willingness to travel to target areas and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements 
The candidate's requirements

Mandatory Qualifications required
  • University degree in Gender studies, sociology, law or any other related field.
  • Minimum 2years' esxperience in GBV, and Protection

English and Pidgin English
