Dangote is looking for Assistant Jetty Manager

Job Summary

  • Assist in planning, driving and monitoring all operation and maintenance activities regarding safe, efficient and cost-effective handling of vessels.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Supervise vessel dispatching activities to insure accurately and timely completion.

  • Acts as a focal point for any stevedoring issues that may arise with assigned vessel.

Coordinate vessel berthing for a quick start of discharging.
When necessary, interacts with trucking companies to facilitate the timely delivery.

2. Ensure equipment availability and maintenance.
3. Directly supervise operations to make sure the work done as per procedures.
4. Training of operators for an efficient and safe work.
5. Implement approved HSE policies and procedures.
6. Liaise with all port stakeholders to maintain efficient operations.
7. Perform any other duties, as assigned by the Jetty Manager.

Key Requirements 

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with Marine, logistics or Transportation background preferred
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) in a supervisory role.
  • Marine terminal experience is an asset.

Skills and Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of the cement industry (local and international).
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in Logistics, particularly in marine and port operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of company approved HSE policies.
  • Sound oral and written communication skills (French & English).
  • Good organisation and project management skills.
  • Good leadership and relationship management skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills, with ability to take initiative and act proactively.
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Office suite, a terminal operating systems experience is a plus.
