The microbiology laboratory technician collaborates on a daily basis with all other units of the quality assurance department, assisting the operational department through the analysis of products produced and environmental monitoring, as well as insight in availability of lots for shipping for the advancement of supply chain activities.

Key responsibilities include:

Sample reception and identification (traceability : records in spreadsheets paper and electronics);
Preparation of media and buffers used for daily analysis , maintain available stock needed for daily microbiological testing;
Perform microbiological testing in a timely manner and in accordance with SOPs;
Perform environmental monitoring through swabs of surfaces, air sampling and water sampling;
Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility;
Maintain good housekeeping as per the Good laboratory practices;
Perform quality control monitoring by tracking incubator temperatures as well as on-time calibration of equipment;
Removing samples from testing area to storage and /or disposable;
Washing and sanitization of used glassware at the end of each day, as well as decontamination of used reagents;
Perform inventory of reagents and lab materials in order to avoid stock run out for microbiological testing;
Communicate information within the team in an open and timely manner;
Perform all activities in an organized, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner and adhere to internal SOPs.

About You:

Bachelor degree in biochemistry or microbiology or equivalent degree
Minimum two (02) years’ experience as a microbiology laboratory technician
General knowledge of quality activities and food safety awareness
Effective oral and written communication in both languages (English & French)
Ability to plan and complete work assignments
Aptitude to work both independently and within a team environment
Detail-oriented, organized, able to work under pressure, flexible and have time management skills to handle multiple tasks
Knowledge of MS Office (especially google spreadsheet)
Good manipulation of numbers
Flexibility
