Job announcement: Lubricants Sales Engineer

African Management Services Company is looking for LUBRICANTS SALES ENGINEER
Location: Douala, Cameroun 


Our client: one of the key players in the distribution of fuel & lubricants in Cameroon.
Place of recruitment/place of work: Douala
Position to be filled: Lubricant Engineer
Direct supervisor: B2B Manager.
Type of contract: Open term contract, upon successful probation period.
Preferred starting date of the selected candidate: 1st June 2023
This position is also open to expatriates for a local employment contract

1. Field Technical and Product Support

  • Build the organization’s technical support capacity to its customers. Plan and supervise the delivery of technical support to both internal and external customers.
  • Coach the Lube Technician to provide the best-in-class technical services to our customers.
  • Provide the necessary tools to support Territory Managers and Lube Technician to perform used oil analysis, field trials, and Proof of performance services.
  • Maintain base business by identifying what drives customer purchasing decisions and presenting offers that exceed customer expectations and delivers superior returns to the organization.
  • Ensure product training (Internal & External) is done systematically for all lines of business in line with the B2B and Retail business growth plans annually.

2. Product Quality Management

  • Define and optimize the company product line, products and packages and consistently review it to ensure that it’s in line with market needs and corporate guidelines.
  • Coordinate with the laboratory all aspects of product quality.
  • Maintain quality systems integration between the Laboratory and the sales team.
  • Liaise with external quality bodies to ensure full product and systems compliance.

3. Internal Product Support

  • Assist the Lubes Supply team to provide the right raw materials and packages as per product specifications.
  • Provide guidance through product application process to reduce and curb dead stocks.
  • Review packaging quality and designs during implementation and review stages.
  • Ensure all products have product data sheets and material safety data sheets available.
  • Coordinate with Business Development / Marketing to roll out all technical marketing materials and new product introduction.
  • Work with all stakeholders to identify and fulfill the market product needs by participating in market surveys, internal processing to create, develop and actualize new product introductions and product deletions.

Direct Supervision: 01 people 



  • Relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering background and degree from reputable university


  • 8 years post qualification experience in technical sales and support in the petroleum sector, preferably handling lubricants is absolutely required
  • Commercial acumen, sound business judgment and ethics and personal organization.
  • Experience in Ms Office notably advanced excel and PowerPoint.
