GAICAM Leadership and Community Development Fellowship – GALCODEF, is an annual flagship program of GAICAM International which annually brings together young community leaders from across Cameroon and Africa at large to train and equip these dedicated visionaries with the expertise and skills needed to enhance Peace-Building, Community Development and the fight against Climate Change.

The preoccupation of this Fellowship program is to strengthen the capacities of young people and put them at the center of decision making, aimed at exploring ways in which young people can engage with their local governments and communities to enhance Peace-Building, Community Development and the fight against Climate Change. This is in an effort to invest in the next generation of Cameroon and African leaders, who will serve as pavements to the growth and development of Cameroon and the continent of Africa


Interested applicants (male or female) who wish to participate in 2022 Fellowship, should;

  • Be between the ages of 18 – 35 years.
  • Demonstrate strong interest in Peace-Building and Community Activism in their respective communities or nation. Preferably, Community Initiative leaders or young leaders affiliated to any civil society organization, with a flexible schedule to attend both onsite sessions of the fellowship.
  • Be resident in Cameroon, or willing to travel to Cameroon for the time being of the fellowship at their own expense.
  • Be ready to work collectively with other from diverse backgrounds.
  • Be of good character and ready to respect the Fellowship regulations and the management authorities.
  • Be able to speak and write either English or French.
  • Be eligible to attend the both onsite sessions of the fellowship to receive the participation Certificate.
  • Be willing and capable of conducting a Pass-it-on (PTO) activity in their respective communities/regions to reach at least 50 persons and submit a report to GAICAM. Certificates are given only upon successful completion of the program.

Please note that GALCODEF is not an educational program offering academic courses leading toward a degree. It does not provide funds or any other type of financial aid to graduate students, nor is it designed to finance youth projects/organizations. The program cannot support those seeking to complete professional training programs, attend conferences, or pursue internships at other organizations. It is carefully designed to invest in the next generation of African leaders.
