Position Overview
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)
is currently recruiting a Graphic Designer to join its Design and Multimedia
Unit (DMU) within the Strategic Communications Branch (SCB). This remote
position aims to produce engaging visual materials that amplify humanitarian
messages, support OCHA’s outreach, and raise awareness of complex issues to
foster a more effective emergency response.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop High-Quality Visual Information Products: Create impactful infographics, posters, brochures, and other materials to effectively communicate humanitarian messages to diverse audiences.
- Design Interactive Websites and Animations: Utilize graphic design skills to develop engaging websites and animations that inform users about humanitarian issues and OCHA’s activities.
- Participate in Information Management and Visualization Projects: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data and complex concepts into accessible visuals.
- Contribute to Visual Strategy: Assist in defining and implementing visual communication strategies aligning with OCHA’s goals.
- Maintain Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials adhere to OCHA’s branding guidelines to strengthen its visual identity.
- Stay Updated on Design Trends: Continuously research and integrate the latest design trends and technologies into OCHA’s visual communication initiatives.
- Advanced university degree in graphic design, multimedia design, communications, or a related field. A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in graphic design, information and communication technology, multimedia design, or related areas. Experience with Adobe Software applications is essential.
- Portfolio: Submission of a portfolio showcasing samples of work in graphic design is required.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory, with knowledge of French being desirable.
- Experience with the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC) process.
- Prior experience in graphic design and data analysis within the UN Common System or other comparable international organizations.
- Duration: 1 May – 31 December 2024
- Location: Remote, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
