ANTENNA Scholarships 2026: Fully Funded Master's in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Buea ⚕️
The ANTENNA project has launched a call for applications for the award of three (03) fully funded Master's scholarships in Public Health, specializing in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, at the University of Buea in Cameroon. Academic fees, a statutory allowance, and scientific mentorship are all included. The application deadline is set for August 31, 2026.

ANTENNA (Training Hubs for Statisticians and Epidemiologists in East, Central, and West Africa) is a regional initiative funded by EDCTP3. Its goal is to strengthen African capacity in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, and artificial intelligence applied to public health.
The consortium is coordinated by the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) and brings together several African and European institutions, including the Douala General Hospital, the University of Buea, and the Cameroon Ministry of Public Health. Through its Cameroon Hub, ANTENNA aims to train a new generation of epidemiologists and biostatisticians capable of producing evidence to guide public health policies across Africa.
What Does the ANTENNA Scholarship Cover?
Selected candidates benefit from comprehensive support throughout the duration of the program:
- A scholarship covering the full Master's academic fees;
- A scholarship contract lasting two (02) years, corresponding to the normal duration of the program;
- A statutory allowance, in accordance with the provisions of the ANTENNA project;
- Scientific mentorship provided by national and international researchers;
- Access to additional training in data science, artificial intelligence, scientific writing, leadership, science communication, and professional development;
- Opportunities to participate in scientific workshops, datathons, and African networks of epidemiology and biostatistics.
Eligibility Requirements
To be selected, candidates must meet all of the conditions below.
Academic Requirements
Candidates must be eligible for admission — and must actually apply — to the Master of Public Health program specializing in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Buea (Faculty of Health Sciences), for the 2026/2027 academic year. They must also hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in one of the following fields:
- Public Health;
- Epidemiology;
- Biological Sciences;
- Statistics;
- Mathematics;
- Physics;
- Computer Science;
- or any other relevant discipline.
Candidates whose language of instruction was not English must meet the University of Buea's English proficiency requirements.
Professional Requirements
- Be a civil servant or an agent in active service within the Cameroon Ministry of Public Health or a public institution;
- Have relevant professional experience in public health or health systems;
- Demonstrate strong motivation to pursue a career in epidemiology, biostatistics, or health data analysis;
- Commit to continuing their career within the national health system after training, in line with the objectives of the ANTENNA project.
Application File: Documents to Provide
The application file must be merged into a single PDF file and include the following:
- A cover letter addressed to the Principal Investigator of the ANTENNA Cameroon Hub;
- A detailed and signed Curriculum Vitae;
- Copies of university diplomas;
- University transcripts;
- A copy of the GCE O/L and A/L certificates or the Baccalauréat;
- A copy of the Bachelor's degree;
- A copy of the birth certificate;
- A certificate of assumption of duty or an appointment decision issued by the Ministry of Public Health or the authority employing the candidate;
- Three (03) mandatory letters of recommendation:
- one (01) from the employer (Ministry of Public Health or line manager);
- one (01) from an academic supervisor (teacher/researcher, thesis director, dean, department head, etc.);
- one (01) from a professional or scientific supervisor;
- A sworn statement certifying the accuracy of the information provided.
Selection Criteria
Selection will be carried out by a committee of experts based on the following elements:
- Quality of academic background;
- University results;
- Relevance of initial training;
- Professional experience;
- Quality of the cover letter;
- Letters of recommendation;
- The candidate's potential to contribute to strengthening the capacity of Cameroon's public health system.
