About the Scotland Pakistan Scholarships 2026
The Scotland Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women and Girls is a higher education funding initiative designed to support Pakistani women pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate education across Pakistan. Funded by the Scottish Government and administered by the British Council in Pakistan, the programme aims to make quality higher education more accessible to women who face financial, geographical, social or accessibility-related barriers.
While university education opens doors to professional development, economic participation and leadership, the costs involved often prevent talented students from completing their studies. This scholarship addresses those barriers by providing financial support to eligible female students in fields critical to Pakistan's social, economic and sustainable development.
The British Council coordinates with successful scholars and their universities, either directly or through nominated university focal persons.
Levels of Study Supported
| Level | Duration | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor's Degree | 4 years | HEC-recognised university, eligible subject area |
| Master's / MPhil | Up to 2 years | HEC-recognised university, eligible subject area |
Both undergraduate and postgraduate female students may apply, provided their programme falls within one of the scholarship's designated priority subjects.
Financial Benefits
The scholarship provides comprehensive support that goes beyond tuition alone:

Is This a Scholarship to Study in Scotland?
No. Despite being funded by the Scottish Government, this scholarship supports eligible students studying at HEC-recognised universities within Pakistan — not in Scotland. The financial support is intended to improve access to higher education for Pakistani women studying at home.
For those specifically interested in studying in Scotland, other opportunities exist. For example, the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at the University of Edinburgh offers fully funded study opportunities in Scotland for international students, including comprehensive support for tuition and living expenses.
