Position Overview:
UNICS Plc is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead the Legal Affairs and Debt Recovery team as the Head of Legal, Litigation and Recovery Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct legal risk analyses during credit processing and manage the constitution of collaterals in accordance with the OHADA Uniform Act.
  • Handle litigations and contentions, including credit, social, general, and criminal contentions.
  • Develop and implement legal, litigation, and recovery policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with assigned legal practitioners to initiate appropriate legal actions for debt recovery and other legal issues.
  • Manage amicable and forceful debt recovery procedures as per OHADA guidelines.
  • Advise management on legal-related issues and manage the constitution and administration of collaterals.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum of five years of practical experience in debt recovery within a financial institution or a debt collection department.
  • Master's degree in Business Law or equivalent professional legal studies.
  • Practical experience with legal practitioners (Barristers, Bailiffs, Notary Public, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of the OHADA Uniform Acts and Jurisprudence.
  • Ability to negotiate and design agreements for amicable settlements.
  • Exceptional communication skills in both English and French, verbal and written.
  • Knowledgeable in contemporary legal issues.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and maintain a flexible, customer-focused culture.
  • Capable of working under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, engaging, positive, results-driven, and possesses the maturity and personality to command respect.
