Destination Manitoba 2026: How French-Speaking Africans Can Land a Job in Canada
Few Canadian provinces travel to Africa to meet job seekers face to face. Manitoba does. In October 2026, a delegation from the province will hold recruitment sessions in Casablanca, Cotonou and Abidjan, looking for skilled workers who speak French.
This guide covers the dates, who is eligible, how to sign up, and what realistically happens next.
Who is behind Destination Manitoba?
Two francophone organizations with a clear goal
The mission is run by the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM) together with Accueil francophone, the organization that helps French-speaking newcomers settle in the province.
Their objective is practical. Manitoba's bilingual communities are short of workers, and CDEM wants to meet qualified candidates directly, explain the job market and walk them through the immigration process.
Backed by both levels of government
This is not a private agency operation. The 2026 edition is funded by the Province of Manitoba and the Government of Canada, which gives it an official standing that many so-called "recruitment fairs" lack.
Not to be confused with Destination Canada
Destination Manitoba is often mixed up with Destination Canada Mobility Forum, a separate event run by the federal government. The 2026 federal forum has already taken place: online in early February, then in Tunis and Paris.
The difference matters. Destination Canada covers employers from several provinces, while Destination Manitoba focuses on a single province and has its own registration process.

Destination Manitoba 2026: dates and host cities
Registration opened in September 2026. The delegation will be in:

This is not a first attempt. In December 2024, the same team held sessions in Dakar and Abidjan, which shows a lasting commitment to recruiting in Africa.
Living outside the three host countries
You do not need to live in Morocco, Benin or Côte d'Ivoire to take part. CDEM's call is open to candidates anywhere on the African continent who want to work and settle in Manitoba.
What if English is your first language?
This mission targets French speakers. English-speaking candidates are not excluded, but they need a solid command of French to be considered. For bilingual professionals, especially from Cameroon, being fluent in both official languages of Canada is a genuine advantage in Manitoba's bilingual communities.
Who does Manitoba want to hire?
The basic profile
Signing up does not mean you will be invited. For the 2024 edition, only candidates eligible for immigration to Manitoba and matching labour market needs received an invitation.
Your chances are best if you:
- Speak French fluently
- Work in an occupation in demand in Manitoba
- Have a degree and work experience you can prove
- Meet the general requirements to immigrate to Canada
Occupations recruiters have targeted
Demand changes from year to year. In 2024, the francophone school board (DSFM) came looking for primary and secondary school teachers, and a daycare recruited early childhood educators.
Before applying, compare your occupation with the in-demand list published by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program. A match strengthens your profile considerably.
Get your French test done early
A recognized French test (TEF Canada or TCF Canada) will be requested sooner or later, for a work permit as well as for permanent residence. Booking it now saves time if an employer shows interest.
How to sign up for Destination Manitoba 2026
Step 1: Use the official registration form
Applications are accepted only through the official CDEM form. Emailed applications were not considered in the past. If the form fails to load on your phone, try a computer.
Take your time. A missing field or a detail that contradicts your CV can be enough to have your application set aside.
Step 2: Rewrite your CV the Canadian way
Canadian recruiters expect a different CV format. Leave out your photo, date of birth and marital status. Instead, highlight measurable achievements and relevant skills.
Step 3: Watch your inbox
Only shortlisted profiles are invited. Check your email regularly, including your spam folder, so you do not miss an invitation.
Step 4: Treat it like a real interview
If you are selected, prepare as you would for any job interview. Bring your diplomas, employment certificates and language test results.
Routes to Canada after the event
A good conversation with a recruiter is a starting point. The actual move to Canada still goes through official programs.
Francophone Mobility work permit
With a job offer in hand, the Francophone Mobility stream can speed things up considerably. It lets employers hire French-speaking or bilingual workers for jobs outside Quebec without a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), one of the most time-consuming steps in hiring a foreign worker.
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)
The MPNP is Manitoba's route to permanent residence. Some of its draws target candidates who were directly invited through a named recruitment initiative, including a Francophone Community stream.
Keep your expectations realistic. On July 2, 2026, the MPNP issued 77 Letters of Advice to Apply in this type of draw, and only 8 went to the Francophone Community stream.
Express Entry French-language draws
At the federal level, Express Entry regularly holds draws reserved for French speakers, often with lower cut-off scores than general rounds. Work experience gained in Manitoba will also boost your ranking.

Fake recruiters
Treating an invitation as a guarantee
An invitation gives you access to recruiters, nothing more. Whether you get a job depends on employers, and whether you get a visa depends on IRCC and the province.
Inflating your experience
Exaggerating your background or submitting forged documents leads to a Canada visa refusal, and misrepresentation can also result in a five-year ban from Canada.
