Responsibilities
A. General Responsibilities
- Work in compliance with NRC’s policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines.
- Prepare advance reports and other documents related to the role.
- Encourage and contribute to improvements in the function.
- Ensure work aligns with the Work and Development Plan.
- Drive NRC staff according to the established schedule (when road conditions allow), prioritizing the safety of people and property.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of the vehicle to ensure the presence of administrative documents (registration, insurance, technical inspection, etc.), NRC documents (Driving Manual, forms), tools (spare tire, jack, ropes, etc.), and required equipment (first aid kit, flashlight, visibility items, etc.) on board.
- Be responsible for daily and weekly checks of the vehicle and its contents.
- Notify the supervisor about periodic service requirements and report any anomalies, maintenance needs, or repairs.
- Maintain the vehicle's cleanliness and ensure logos and license plates are visible.
- Keep the logbook up to date.
- Ensure safety compliance by adhering to traffic rules (speed limits) and NRC guidelines (adjusting speed based on road conditions and proximity to villages/populated areas).
- Use the vehicle according to organizational standards.
- Ensure the vehicle is adequately refueled.
- When transporting goods, ensure proper loading and unloading, verify that transported items have the necessary documentation, submit documents to the recipient, check the condition of items, and return completed documentation to Logistics.
- Ensure non-NRC passengers sign the liability waiver form.
A. General Professional Skills
- Professional experience as a driver in a support role within a humanitarian context.
- Previous experience in complex and unstable contexts.
- Proven track record of fulfilling responsibilities for the position.
- Knowledge of the social, cultural, economic, and legal context of the Central region.
- Familiarity with driving in challenging conditions (weather, road conditions, security risks).
- Proficiency in French and/or English, both spoken and written.
- Managing unsafe environments.
- Teamwork.
- Communicating respectfully and effectively.
- Planning and achieving results.
- What We Offer
- Contract: Renewable 12-month contract based on funding availability.
- Work Location: Yaoundé, with 75% travel to the field.
- Salary/Benefits: Grade 2, Step 1 of NRC Cameroon’s salary scale.
- Start Date: March 2025.
