Job Title: Project Director 

Location: Yaoundé, Cameroon 

EVIHDAF is an international research and development organization headquartered in Yaoundé, Cameroon, which serves the West and Central Africa region. We bring together a multidisciplinary team of English and French speaking researchers who combine innovative thinking and rigorous approaches with the ability to think globally, and the expertise to act local. Regional and global consultants, some connected to universities, complement our team. We currently have a USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data Unit satellite office in Parakou, Benin.

EVIHDAF offers comprehensive services in Research, monitoring, evaluation and learning (RMEL); Data analytics and survey research, Research capacity strengthening, and Social and behavior change (SBC) research. Our priority focus areas include Reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH); Maternal, infant and young child nutrition (MIYCN); Malaria and infectious diseases; Humanitarian/vulnerable context; and Support to service delivery. 

We are looking for an experienced Project Director in anticipation of a USAID-funded Regional Implementation Science Research for Improved Sexual and Reproductive Health (ISRSRH) in West and Central Africa Request for Proposal. The Project Director will provide overall technical vision and oversight for the project, manage consortium partnership, and ensure effective contract implementation at the global and country levels to meet the project’s goals and objectives. S/he will ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, USAID rules and regulations, company policies and procedure and ensure systems are in place to deliver the highest caliber of technical assistance while managing costs against budgets and identifying and mitigating risks. The Project Director will serve as the project’s principal representative with USAID and as main liaison with partners and other stakeholders. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

• Provide strategic and technical leadership, consortium management, and administration of the project, ensuring activities are performed to a high professional standard, effectively implemented, and fulfill donor and EVIHDAF requirements.
• Provide oversight for budgeting processes, budget tracking, and ensuring expenditures are allowable, allocatable, and reasonable in accordance with USAID rules and regulations.
• Develop and execute overall project strategy and workplan toward achievement of project objectives and stimulate uptake of learning from project results.
• Serve as primary liaison between EVIHDAF and USAID, consortium partners, and other stakeholders. 
• Monitor ISR-SRH project performance to achieve project goals and objectives and ensure effective implementation of evidence translation and the dissemination strategy.
• Ensure appropriate and timely documentation and dissemination of key results using a variety of communication strategies and media.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, beneficiaries, and partners.
• Ensure effective compliance with USAID/USG rules and regulations, and EVIHDAF policies and procedures, as well as in-country laws. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Advanced degree (Masters, PhD, Dr.PH) in health, implementation science, social science, or a relevant field.
• Previous experience as a Project Director or similar position for a global activity.
• At least 8-10 years of professional experience managing operational, implementation science and research, programs management, managerial, and administrative duties for USG or other donor-funded projects with similarly complex, large development projects.
• At least ten years of experience implementing programs or researching technical areas, such as reproductive, maternal, newborn and child and adolescent health (RMNCAH), social and behavior change (SBC) research, and gender.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Full professional proficiency in both English and French.
