Scholarships for African Students in Mauritius
The Mauritian government has announced a call for applications for its scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year. This program is reserved for citizens of African Union member states and African Commonwealth countries. The scholarships will fund studies at the undergraduate (three years), diploma (four years), master's (two years), combined master's-doctorate (four years and six months), and doctorate (three years) levels. Candidates must apply before the deadline of April 23, 2025.
The common language in Mauritius is Mauritian Creole. However, most Mauritians speak French, while English is used in government and education.

Scholarship Amount and Duration

- The scholarship duration is as follows:
- Three years for a Bachelor’s degree.
- Four years for a Diploma.
- Two years for a Master’s degree.
- Four years and six months for a combined Master’s-Doctorate.
- Three years for a Doctorate.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a Mauritian government scholarship, you must:Be a citizen and resident of an African Union member state or African Commonwealth country.
For undergraduate programs, be over 18 years old and not have reached your 26th birthday by January 1, 2026.
For Master's and Doctorate programs, not have reached your 40th birthday by January 1, 2026.

Application Procedure for Mauritian Scholarships
To submit your application for a Mauritian scholarship, follow these steps:Apply for admission to one or more study programs of your choice at the Mauritian higher education institutions.
Contact the nominating agency in your country (download the list of nominating agencies) for details on the application process specific to your country.
Submit your scholarship applications to the nominating agency in your home country. Do not send them directly to the Ministry of Higher Education in Mauritius. The nominating agency, usually part of the Ministry of Education, will handle the selection process and forward the application forms to Mauritius.
