Swedish Government SI Scholarships 2025/2026

The scholarship program offered by the Swedish Institute (SI), under the auspices of the Swedish government, is now open for the academic year 2025/2026. This program, fully funded by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provides an exceptional opportunity for international students to pursue master's studies in Sweden.

Why Apply for SI Scholarships?

The SI scholarships offer selected candidates a unique opportunity for academic and professional development, exposure to Swedish culture and society, and the chance to establish lasting connections with Sweden and other scholarship recipients.

The Swedish Institute, a public agency dedicated to promoting Sweden internationally, also works toward regional and global development, supported by the Swedish state budget.

With this scholarship, you can access approximately 600 master’s programs taught in English starting in autumn 2025.

  • Target audience: Students from 42 eligible nationalities

What benefits does the Scholarship offer?

Selected scholars will receive:
  • Full coverage of tuition fees.
  • A monthly allowance of 12,000 SEK (approximately $1,098) to cover living expenses.
  • Insurance covering illnesses and accidents.
  • A one-time travel grant ranging between $980 and $1,336, depending on the country of origin.
  • Access to the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP) to support professional development.
  • Membership in the SI Alumni Network after graduation to foster continued professional relationships.
Important: University application fees (approximately $80) are the responsibility of the applicant.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Be nationals of one of the 42 eligible countries such as Cameroon, Senegal, Morocco, or Bangladesh (current residence in these countries is not required).
  • Have at least 3,000 hours of professional work experience and proven leadership experience (through a professional role or civil society involvement).
  • Eligible Master’s Programs
The scholarship covers approximately 600 master’s programs taught in English. You can download the complete list of eligible programs from the official website.

How to Apply?

1. Submit your application for a master’s program Register at universityadmissions.se before January 15, 2025. You can apply for up to four programs. Save your application number to complete your scholarship application.
2. Apply for the SI scholarshipAfter enrolling in a master’s program, apply for the scholarship through the online portal available from  February 10 to February 26, 2025. Ensure you submit all required documents at once.

Important dates:

  • March 27, 2025: Master’s program selection results.
  • April 24, 2025: SI scholarship results announcement.
