Background
The Integrated Research Education and Support Group (IRES) is a Cameroon-based nonprofit organization committed to advancing research, health education, and strengthening health systems. Within the framework of her mission, IRES is offering an internship opportunity in Accounting and Financial management for young graduates seeking hands-on professional experience in the nonprofit and public health project management sector.
Internship Focus Areas
- The Accounting Intern will contribute to the following activities:
- Maintaining accounting journals and recording supporting documents
- Filing and archiving financial documents
- Assisting in the preparation of financial reports
- Supporting project budget management
- Processing payments and conducting bank reconciliations
- Following up on advances and expense justifications
- Applying donor financial and accounting procedures Participating in internal and external audits
Skills and Competencies to be Acquired
Education
Graduate with at least a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, Auditing, or related fields. Master's degree is an added value.
Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with accounting software (SAGE, QuickBooks, etc.) Basic knowledge of budgeting and NGO accounting principles Strong organizational and confidentiality skills
Other Attributes
Attention to detail, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility - Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines
Interest in public health and project management
Languages
Bilingual; working knowledge of English and French
