UNU Junior Fellows Internship in Tokyo (Fall 2026) (PAID)

The applications are now open for the UNU Junior Fellows Internship in Tokyo, Japan. This is a paid internship opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience within the United Nations system. The internship will take place at the UNU headquarters in Tokyo, offering participants the chance to work on real projects related to global development and policy. The Duration of the UNU internship is six months, and the fellows will work at the UNU headquarters in Tokyo from 1st Sept 2026 to 26th Feb 2027. Financial Benefits

Selected fellows will receive:

• Monthly Stipend to cover living costs
• Transport to/from the UNU headquarters in Shibuya.

• 1.5 days of leave per month.

Duration of Internship

The duration of the internship is approximately 6 months (24 weeks).

Eligibility Criteria

You can apply if you:

• The Internship is open to all Nationals.
• Are enrolled in or have recently completed a Master’s or PhD degree
• Have a strong interest in:
• International relations
• Development studies
• Public policy
• Have excellent communication and research skills
• Are fluent in English
• Must not have more than 5 years of work experience in their related field.

What Will You Do?

As a Junior Fellow, you may:

• Conduct research and policy analysis
• Assist in project coordination
• Support communications and outreach
• Work with international teams
