Applications are now open for the Pan African University Scholarships. The program is open to young, qualified, talented candidates from African countries and the African Diaspora to join the Master's and PhD programs in any of the four Pan African University (PAU) institutes.

Candidates with potential, motivation, and a desire to play transformative leadership roles as academics, professionals, industrialists, innovators, and entrepreneurs are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Pan-African University (PAU) is the culmination of the African Union Commission's continental initiatives to revitalize higher education and research in Africa, within the framework of the Second Decade of Education for Africa and the Science and Technology Consolidated Plan of Action for Africa. It will embody excellence, enhance the attractiveness and global competitiveness of African higher education and research, and place the African university at the heart of Africa's development.

Host institution: Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI), Kenya; Pan African University Institute for Life and Earth Sciences (including Health and Agriculture) (PAULESI), Nigeria; Pan African University Institute for Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS), Cameroon; Pan African University Institute for Water and Energy Sciences including climate change (PAUWES), Algeria;.

To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must satisfy the following conditions:

Master Program Applicants

• Not be older than 30 years for male and 35 years for female applicants;
• Have an Undergraduate degree from a recognized university, with at least a second-class upper division or its equivalent, in a relevant field;
• Certified true copies of relevant certificates, transcripts (from university and high school);
• Passport or National I.D. card (personal details page);
• Clear coloured passport size photograph (2cmx2cm);
• Detailed CV;
• Recommendation letter from ONE of his/her former University lecturers;
• Names of 3 Reference University lecturers (with email address and WhatsApp number) – Mandatory;

Note : Candidates may be required to undergo a written/oral examination after preselection. Candidates for the Master in Conference Interpreting and Translation programmes are required to have excellent knowledge of at least one of the African Union’s official languages (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Kiswahili and Spanish). Academic Competence must be evidenced in academic transcripts at bachelors’ level.

Doctoral Program 

• Maximum 35 years old for male and 40 years old for female applicants;
• A Master’s degree in a relevant field from PAU or any internationally recognized university;
• Certified copies of relevant certificates and transcripts,
• Passport or National I.D. card (biometric/ personal details page);
• Clear coloured passport size photograph (2cmx2cm);
• Detailed CV;
• Recommendation letters from 2 Professors;
• A 3 to 4 page Research Concept Note (tentative title, research questions, objectives, significance of the research etc…);
• Names of 3 Reference University lectures (with email address and WhatsApp number)- Mandatory;

Interested applicants in this Africa scholarship program should click on the apply button below to access the online application platform, create an account, and follow instructions to submit their applications.

• Click on the Apply button below and click on ‘Register’
• Provide a valid username and your email
• Check your inbox to confirm the registration by clicking on the confirmation link (Please check the spams as well)
• Provide a valid password
• Login using your credentials
• Open the ‘Application’ page and provide all your data
• Click on Save button and after finishing click on FINISH button.
