The Master in Transport Sciences offers twelve students from developing countries a scholarship to obtain a master's degree in Transport Sciences (specialization: Road Safety). Applications are now open.

About the award: The Master of Transportation Science is pleased to announce that we now have a call for participants for the 2024 ICP Scholarship.

The International Course Program (ICP) offers twelve students from developing countries a scholarship each year to obtain a master's degree in transportation science (specialization: road safety). The program lasts two years and focuses specifically on road safety in developing countries.

Students are trained to identify transportation and road safety issues in order to create innovative solutions using an integrative approach based on three pillars: the individual (dealing with human behavior in traffic and how to influence it, e.g. intentional and unintentional risky behaviors such as drunkenness). driving or cognitive impairments), the environment (e.g., creating explicit roads and infrastructure that minimize the impact of accidents), and society (e.g., societal norms and translation into policies and enforcement measures). Road safety in this program is approached as a cross-border field, integrating elements of psychology, economics, urban planning, environmental studies, engineering and much more.

Eligibility: 
With the International Courses Program, VLIR-UOS financially supports English Master of Transportation Science programs with a focus on development-related themes. The scholarship sponsor has stipulated a number of eligibility criteria that applicants must meet, for example:The maximum age of candidates should be 35 years as of January 1, 2024.
Only people from below 31 countries are eligible for scholarshipAfrica : Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Niger
Asia : Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Palestinian Territories, Vietnam
Latin America : Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru

Number of rewards: 10

Value of Master’s Prize in Transportation Sciences: Monthly allowance: €1,150/month (for meal costs, transportation, personal expenses and accommodation)
Payment in one installment of indirect travel costs: €150
One-time payment for logistics compensation: €850
Insurance, international travel and tuition fees

How to register:
ICP CONNECT APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1, 2024
 (ONLINE APPLICATION + HARD COPIES BY MAIL TO HASSELT UNIVERSITY).

Application Procedure:

A complete application consists of the following two parts:Complete the online pre-registration . Make sure all required fields have been completed and all required documents have been uploaded.
On the STUDY PROGRAM page, choose the “ Master in Transport Sciences: Road Safety (new 19-20) (incl ICP) ”. After the HIGHER EDUCATION page, you can access the ICP page where you can select if you want to apply for an ICP scholarship (if you meet the eligibility criteria).

Send by post the paper copies of certified diplomas and transcripts as well as a printed version of the completed ICP application form (download from the “ICP” page) . The ICP application form also contains a checklist of all documents that must be sent by postal mail. All applicants are required to send certified paper copies of higher education diplomas (bachelor's, master's, doctorate, etc.) as well as transcripts by post to Hasselt University. If your documents are in a language other than English, French, Dutch or German, you must also send certified hard copies of the officially translated documents.
What are certified hard copies?
Your File Is Only Complete And Can Only Be Processed Once Your Online Pre-Registration Has Been Completed And The Certified Paper Copies Of Your Documents Have Reached The Admissions Office Before The Application Deadline. Applications And Documents Received After This Deadline Will Not Be Taken Into Consideration.

Only complete and admissible applications which reach us before the application deadline will be taken into consideration. A ranking will be made. The top 10 candidates will receive a scholarship. There will also be a waiting list of eligible candidates ranked between 10 and maximum. 20.

Applicants who have been awarded a scholarship will be informed by VLIR-UOS by email between the end of May and mid-June 2024. Applicants who have not been awarded a scholarship will be informed by Hasselt University within the same period.

Applicants who do not benefit from a scholarship, but who are academically eligible, will have the opportunity to be admitted to the non-scholarship master's degree in transport sciences.
