About the Role
This role is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing and
managing financial operations & processes at Grassland Cameroon Ltd. The
Finance Manager will provide strategic financial guidance, ensure compliance
with financial regulations, and contribute to the overall success of the
organization through effective financial planning, analysis, and
decision-making. The Finance Manager will report directly to the Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) and work closely with other members of the executive
team.
Who We Are
We are a food storage, drying, and distribution company that sources products
from smallholder farmers, whom we support during the season with input loans
and training, so that they can be more productive. We transform the farmers'
produce into standardized, graded products that we sell across the country, to
buyers who can be sure of the quality they receive.
What We Do
We provide agricultural financial solutions and services to smallholder
farmers. Our asset-based credit is in the form of fertilizer, seeds and crop
protection products, enabling farmers to be more productive. We transform the
farmers' produce into standardized, graded products that we sell across
multiple market segments in Cameroon.
Responsibilities include:
Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement the organization's financial strategy in alignment with its overall goals and objectives.
- Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to the executive team and the Board of Directors.
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards.
- Evaluate and enhance financial systems, processes, and controls to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic and achievable budgets.
- Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing explanations and recommendations as necessary.
- Conduct annual financial forecasting to support resource allocation and planning decisions.
- Identify and assess financial risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and monitor risk exposures.
- Establish, implement and maintain appropriate internal controls to safeguard organization assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Maintain insurance coverage for the organization, including property, liability, and other insurance.
- Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
- Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the finance department
- Identify and address skill gaps, training needs, and succession planning requirements
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, such as the CEO, funders, investors and Board of Directors
- Respond to inquiries and provide financial information and analysis to support decision-making
- Ensure compliance with all tax filing requirements
- Oversee, coordinate and ensure monthly and annual tax returns are filed Provide tax advice and guidance on business initiatives and other strategic projects
- Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, a professional qualification (e.g ACCA, CPA or CMA) is preferred
- 5-7 years of prior experience as a Finance Director or in a similar senior financial management role at a not-for-profit organization
- In-depth knowledge of financial principles, regulations, and accounting practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite, financial software applications and Google Drive.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to understand the organization's goals and align financial strategies accordingly
- High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity in financial management
- Fluency in English and French
