What the programme covers
The master's begins in early September with a shared intensive module. The first semester takes place at your home university. The second is spent at a different NOHA university, where you choose a specialisation: humanitarian law, forced migration, armed conflict, protection or resilience, among others.
In the third semester, you choose between a supervised internship and a regional training placement outside Europe, for example at the University of Makeni in Sierra Leone. The fourth semester is devoted to the dissertation.
Participation fees are €4,000 per semester and include insurance. The official page does not state whether these are covered for scholarship holders, so confirm this directly with the consortium.
Who can apply
- Hold at least a bachelor's degree of 180 ECTS in a field relevant to humanitarian work: social sciences, law, economics, management, engineering, medicine, education or humanities.
- For the scholarship, you must already have graduated before 15 December 2026.
- Prove a C1 level in English: IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT, CAE or CPE. Home editions of these tests are not accepted.
- Never have received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship before.
Prior humanitarian experience weighs heavily in the selection. If your profile is not ready yet, you may also want to look at the Erasmus Mundus MAPP scholarship in public policy or the Erasmus Mundus master's in aeronautical and space engineering. An online degree with a partial Unicaf scholarship can also strengthen your file for a future call.
Documents to prepare from Africa
- The main pages of your passport.
- Scanned degree certificate and transcripts, with an official English translation if they are in French.
- A CV in English, preferably in Europass format.
- Proof of language level.
- Two recommendation letters in English, signed, dated within the last two years, on letterhead if possible. They must not come from a family member.
- Proof of residence dated within 12 months before 15 December: a residence certificate from the town hall (French is accepted), a letter from your employer or university (in English), or a notarised document. National ID cards, passports and utility bills are not accepted.
Each file must be 2 MB maximum. For a translation, the translator's stamp serves as certification.
