What the programme covers
PlantHealth is a two-year Erasmus Mundus joint master's degree dedicated to crop protection within sustainable agriculture. It brings together five institutions: Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain, coordinator), Università di Padova (Italy), University of Göttingen (Germany), AgroParisTech and L'Institut Agro (France).
You study at a minimum of two universities: the second year must take place at a different institution from the first. You state your preferences, but the consortium makes the final placement decision. At the end, you receive a double degree.
Courses are taught in English, except in France during the second year. If you choose France, French language classes in the first year and a free two-month intensive course before the second year are designed to bring you to B2 level.
Who can apply
- Holders of a Bachelor's degree of at least 180 ECTS in agronomy, agricultural sciences or a closely related field.
- With at least 4 ECTS in plant health or crop protection, or the equivalent.
- With a B2 level in English, unless English is your native language.
- Final-year Bachelor's students, provided they graduate before the master's begins in late August.
You cannot apply for this scholarship if you have already received an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarship. If your Bachelor's degree is not in the agricultural field, other routes exist, such as the online programmes offered by Unicaf.
Documents to prepare from Africa
- A CV, preferably in Europass format.
- Your Bachelor's degree certificate and complete academic transcripts. These must carry a university stamp, seal or barcode. Otherwise, have them stamped and signed by the registrar's office.
- A recognised English certificate: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge, Trinity ISE, ESOL, OTE or PTE. If your Bachelor's degree was taught entirely in English, a university attestation (EMOI letter) is accepted, but a certificate remains preferable.
- Two letters of recommendation using the official PlantHealth template, on letterhead, with a professional email address, telephone number, signature and stamp.
- The sworn declaration, downloadable from the portal.
- For final-year Bachelor's students: proof of enrolment in the final year and your most recent transcript.
How to apply, step by step
- Create an account on the PlantHealth application portal.
- Complete the form in English and indicate your preferred mobility pathway.
- Write your motivation statement: 1,000 characters maximum, including spaces.
- Upload a single PDF per section, 1 MB maximum. Merge or compress your files if necessary.
- Proofread everything before submitting: once an application is submitted, it cannot be modified.
Applying is free on the official site. All information can be found on the official PlantHealth master's page.
Selection timeline
| 1 October to 31 December 2026 | First call, the only one giving access to scholarships |
|---|---|
| End of February 2027 | Publication of admitted students and scholarship holders |
| 20 May to 15 June 2027 | Second call, reserved for self-funded candidates, no Erasmus Mundus scholarship |
| End of August 2027 | Master's programme begins |
Applications are scored on three criteria: academic record (60%), letters of recommendation (20%) and motivation statement (20%). The master's degree admits up to 30 students per intake.
An appeal is possible after the results are published, but only for a procedural issue, not to contest your score.
Mistakes to avoid
- Submitting a Duolingo test, a TOEIC or an online course certificate: these are rejected.
- Using a free-form recommendation letter, without the official template or a stamp.
- Paying for legalisation or sworn translation before being selected.
- Waiting until the last day: the cut-off time (midnight CET) is the same as in Cameroon, but an internet outage can block everything.
- Accidentally creating several applications: only the most recent one is reviewed.
- Worrying about not receiving a confirmation email: the system does not always send one.
